And It All Comes Down to.....AJ Burnett?

October 4th, 2011. Just a few days ago Yankee fans were riding their high horses after the Boston Red Sox completed an epic September collapse in which the Yankees aided the Tampa Bay Rays by pitching off of a tee to Evan Longoria. Here we are a few days later, and The New York Yankees, the team with the best record in the AL and highest payroll in baseball, are on the brink of elimination, and have to rely on AJ Burnett to save their season tonight! The same AJ Burnett who has 11 wins and 11 losses on the season. How do you only have a .500 record when you're a starting pitcher on the Yankees? Is that even possible? This is the same AJ Burnett who has a 5.15 ERA, and who possessed an impressive 11.91 ERA August. Yes, that is the AJ Burnett we are talking about. It doesn't get any better than living with a bunch of Yankee fans, and watching them cringe as "The Captain" whiffs for the 3rd time to lose the game. The Yanks so-called "Ace" C.C. Sa-kegg-ia apparently brought his "A" game last night, but was out-deuled by soon to be Cy Young Winner Justin Verlander, who threw a ridiculous 15 pitches at 100mph last night. To C.C.'s credit, he looked great throughout the season, but the rumors floating around that he's back on his Captain Crunch diet just seem so perfect as he looks more and more like The Nutty Professor every time I see him. The Yanks middle of the lineup has been killing it this postseason, as A-rod and "On The Mark, Texeira" have combined for an impressive 1-21 thus far, with A-rod piling up the hits, going 0-10. Should we start considering an "Entourage" curse? After Burnett gets shelled tonight, will the Yankees ever give him another start? Will they ever get rid of him? No, of course they can't.....who would do the shaving cream pies after walk-offs? Listen, I'm not saying the Yanks are going to lose tonight, but AJ Burnett on the bump speaks for itself. See you at 8:37....Go Tigers.
