Giants Vs. Bills Outlook

After a loss to the Gayhawks, the Giants look to bounce back against the emerging Buffalo Bills. First things first, the Giants should have beaten the Seahawks hands down. The Gmen’s Defense kept them in the game, when the Seahawks should have been up 14 at half time. If the former QB now converted fullback from Penn State Michael Robinson, did not fumble on the goal line it would have changed the whole complexion of the game. The Giants D looked good, the pass rush was constant led by JPP and Osi, the secondary was making plays, and the Giants linebackers made enough plays to be relevant. Now having said that, the Gmen’s defense let Charlie ‘I am’ Whitehurst take them down the field in the most critical part of the game, and the Seahawks put up an easy score on them on a broken play. Even with all these mishaps and bad plays, the Giants still had a chance to score, and they would have if Victor Cruz didn’t tip a pass up that got return by a guy who spent the last 5 years in the CFL.

Victor Cruz is an emerging star wide out, repping Umass to the fullest. This new threat gives the giants 3 really good receivers, and Mario Manningham is yet to have a break out game this year.

Somehow the Giants have managed to get results out of their Tight Ends. Jake Ballard did his best impression of a Bavaro and was carrying dudes down the field against the Seahawks. He is very slow but is a load to take down, and he’s a poor man’s Kevin Boss but I love it. Even Bear Pascoe is making plays in the passing game, who woulda thunk it, GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

The Giants defensive line is going to be scary once Justin Tuck comes back; they are going to have 4 strong pass rushers in JPP, Tollefson, Tuck and Osi. Justin Tuck is a unique defensive end because Perry Fewell can slot Tuck at defensive tackle and still have Osi and JPP on the outside. Hey offensive coordinators of the NFL put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Now for this week’s match up against the Buffalo Bills the Giants are going to have their hands full. The Bills are not a roll over team anymore, and have a much improved defensive and offense. If the Giants are going to win this game, it starts with stopping Fred Jackson and the Bills running game. Fred Jackson is having a break out year, but if the Giants make the Bills one dimensional by stopping the run, then the Giants pass rush can go to work. The Giants have had a knack for knocking Quarter Backs out of the game; just ask Michael Vick and Tarvaris Jackson. Kevin Gilbright needs to call a game like he did against the Eagles, and put in some trickery to shake up the Bills Defense. By trickery I don’t mean flea flickers and end arounds, I’m taking about running wheel routes with Brandon Jacobs and the Full Back. The Gmen’s offensive line is a point of concern, and things need to be adjusted to avoid bad snaps and delay of games and all that non-sense. The Giants offense needs to stay on track by avoiding turnovers, and continuing to air the ball out. And For all those Eli Manning haters: Eli is a good quarter back, the guy studies films, got an arm to make all the throws, and is willing to take shots down the field to let his WR’s make plays. Although sometimes those shots down field turn into interceptions, more often than not the pass is incomplete or a Giants receiver is dancing in the end zone. Look at Quarter Backs that don’t take shots down field like Mark Sanchez who never takes shots down field, that’s why their offensive is dooty and all they do is run the ball. This game will be close but the Giants will win 28-17, and look for big games out of Nicks and Antrel Rolle.
