Bill Murray Set To Play FDR

"Our spies tell us that it’s official: Bill Murray has agreed to star as FDR in an adaptation of the British radio play 'Hyde Park On the Hudson' to be directed by Morning Glory's Roger Michell. The project, set up at Focus Features and the UK's Film4, recounts the quasi-incestuous love affair between the president and his distant cousin, Margaret Stuckley, and takes place on the June 1939 weekend that the British King and Queen visited Roosevelt at his upstate New York cottage, in the first-ever visit to America by a member of the United Kingdom monarchy." - New York Magazine

Very interesting. Interesting because we will see Bill Murray in a rare serious role. Interesting because the film will detail a part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's life that few people know about. And interesting because this is another A-List actor who has recently been casted in a political role...

...In the upcoming HBO film 'Game Change', a book about the 2008 Presidential Election, Ed Harris has signed on to play John McCain, Julianne Moore will play Sarah Palin, and Woody Harrelson will play Steve Schmidt (McCain's senior campaign advisor).

Leonardo DiCaprio has also been casted as J. Edgar Hoover, the first Director of the FBI, in a new biopic (2012) being directed by Clint Eastwood. DiCaprio is also casted in Martin Scorcese's film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning biography 'The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt' (2013) - as the title character.
