Human Planet

Several weeks ago, I posted a sweet video of that crazy dude holding his breath for like 3 minutes as he walked the ocean floor catching fish (reposted below). This was a clip from the upcoming series Human Planet. As cool as the clip was, I didn't quite register that this would be just one of many awesome clips showcasing the amazing human spirit shown in Human Planet. Well, let me tell you I was very happy to find out that Human Planet will be airing as a 6 part series starting April 10th on Discovery. Any trailer with a Sigur Ros song in it pretty much seals the deal for me. The following is a writeup by Metacritic.

"This six-part documentary series is a co-production of the BBC and Discovery, and comes from the producers of the acclaimed series Life and Planet Earth. Unlike those predecessors, this new program examines the human race and our relationship to nature, including our ability to survive in the planet’s most extreme environments; each hour of the series focuses on a different habitat, from rainforest to island to desert. Expect plenty of great-looking HD footage, shot in over 70 locations over the past four years." - Metacritic
