Weekend Box Office Report: Lion King 3d Remains On Top

17 years later, the tale of Simba's journey from cub to king of the pridelands still has our hearts and money. The Lion King 3D was the top grossing movie for the second straight weekend, reeling in just over 22.1 million dollars and bringing its 2-week total to over 60 million (the highest movie total for September). Moneyball, the movie adaption of Michael Lewis' infamous book about the unconventional money-saving tactics used by Oakland A's General Manager Billy Beane in the earlier 2000's, came in a close second bringing in nearly 20.6 million. Starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Phillup Seymour Hoffman, Moneyball is on pace to be the highest grossing baseball movie of all time. Warner Bro's Dolphin Tales starring Morgan Freemon came in a close third with about 20.3 million and Taylor Lautner's non-twilight, action debut Abduction came in fourth with around 11.4 million (not to mention one of the worst Rotten Tomato ratings of all time). The numbers...

Moneyball (1st Week)............................................................20.6 Million
Dolphin Tales (1st Week).......................................................20.3 Million
